Thoughts When Travelling Solo

There are few things better than solitude. Apart from Norman Powell, donuts and having a good book in hand, with your feet buried in the sand. Travelling alone has really taught me how to follow my instincts and value silence. It’s beautiful what you can learn about yourself when you just take the time to listen and be still.

—   Grinning from ear to ear because you managed to find your accommodation without having to stop someone on the street and ask for help

—   Omg these people on the walking tour look friendly, let’s spark up a conversation

—   I hope this waiter asks if I’m waiting for someone so I can proudly tell him I’m by myself

—   Being able to take as long as you want to pick a gelato flavour because you have no one waiting for you

—   Their body language looks like they want their photo taken. I wonder if they’ll take mine afterward, let’s hope they’re good at taking photos

—   Crying next to a bank of water because you cannot believe you managed to do all the things you have by yourself

—   I wonder if there are any Canadians around…please notice the flag on the back of my hat and bag!

—   It’s 930, it is too early for sleep? Who cares? You make the rules.

—   I’m definitely lost, and nobody knows where I am

—   The only emotions that can interfere with your experience are your own

—   Crying again because you did it.
